At the end of December 2025, Making Worlds will be leaving our 45th Street location in West Philadelphia, our home since 2020. We are still finalizing plans for what comes next, but will keep you posted! Please stay tuned through our newsletter and website for updates.
Our doors will officially close to the public on Sunday, December 21st. You can redeem gift certificates and/or enjoy sustaining membership perks until then.
In the meantime, please do keep an eye out for a busy November events calendar, come browse our newest titles, and continue to hold community and inspiration with others in our space.
We would like to thank our community of supporters—both in Philadelphia and elsewhere—who have given their time, energy, resources, skills, and brilliance to keeping this project alive during these tumultuous political times. It is a space you’ve helped us fill with love, vision, and collective courage over the last five years. It's no small feat to create a community bookstore and social center that offers a space of engagement and possibility for a better collective future. We know we are stronger together.
ACCESSIBILITY
We are an ADA-accessible space on the ground floor.
Our event setup is flexible and we endeavor to accommodate the needs of everyone.
Our bathroom is also ADA accessible with transfer rails (note: the door is not automatic). We are not a scent-free space. Please contact us with any questions or need specific accommodations.
COVID-19 SAFETY PROTOCOLS
Out of concern for everyone’s well-being as the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic linger with us and expose new needs and vulnerabilities in our communities, we strongly suggest advance registration to our events.
Attendees are requested to wear masks at all times during the event. Please note that some events may require mandatory mask wearing.
