In continuation of 20 years of memoir workshops primarily with the chronically and terminally ill and the disadvantaged, Susan DiPronio facilitated the “Out Loud” memoir workshop for LGBTQIA2S+ Elders in 2023. Participants chronicled their stories developed in a 6-week workshop series. “Out Loud” served as a space for the storytellers to share personal history and of the communities from which they came. Their memoirs were collected in a book and in the Smithsonian Archives. We will have copies for sale for $15.

Facilitator Susan DiPronio (they, she) is a queer Art for Social Change artist. They are the recipient of The Transformation Award and The Art for Change Grant from the Leeway Foundation for conducting writing workshops for 20 years with women, the houseless, adults and children HIV positive, the street economy and the underserved to give voice to their stories. An award winning analog photographer and published writer, their plays and films have appeared in Philadelphia, New York City, Boston, Baltimore, and internationally.
